A couple of years ago, I read the book 'The Blue Zones Solution' which changed my life.

In the book, the author travels to places with an unusually high proportion of centenarians such as Okinawa, Japan and Ikaria in Greece,  in search of the healthiest people in the world and their secrets.

Truth be told, I wanted to be like them, living a healthy and happy life, for as long as possible.

I mean, who doesn't want that?

I set off on a quest to unlock the secrets of health and longevity by studying such groups of people.

Without the funds to travel abroad, I searched online and pored over articles, videos, talks, basically anything that discussed the habits and daily lives of what I call the Blue Zoners.

All of which can be distilled down into five stupid simple golden rules to live by.

Just by following these five rules religiously, the lives of myself and those around me have gotten way better.

       1. Eat more fruits and veggies

       2. Start going to the gym or get 15-20 minutes of exercise every single day

       3. Eat more protein-packed plants like nuts and legumes

       4. Drink more water 

       5. Eat less processed foods, especially processed meats

 

It can't get any simpler than that.

Blue Zoners have, for generations upon generations, stuck with these five rules, allowing them to enjoy a long life free of illness and pains.

It worked for them, and I'm damn sure it will work for all of us.
